Issachar In Action
Sometime ago the Issachar committee decided to offer help to any member of the congregation that was needed. Several signed up to do the work but as Leon said no one ever contacted him. The Schneiders had several large furniture items that they wanted to donate to Camp Okoboji, so they called John Bredehoeft and he in turn called Leon and Lee Wojahn and on a cold snowy night in January the loaded Jon’s trailer. The Camp appreciated the donation and the Schneiders needed the labor and trailer to deliver the items. Thanks for a good deed!!! Harold and Bev Schneider

Lenten Mid Week Services
The usual mid week worship schedule will be followed this Lenten Season. All services in Emmetsburg will be on Thursday and will begin at 6pm. All mid week Lenten services in West Bend will be on Wednesday and will begin at 7:10pm. The first mid week service is Ash Wednesday on February 25th in West Bend and Ash Thursday on February 26th in Emmetsburg.
Beginning with Ash Wednesday/Thursday the service themes are: David: The King Who Laid Bare His Soul; Saul: The King Who Fell from Grace; Solomon: The King Who Had Everything; Ahab: The King Whose Repentance Was Too Litle, Too late; Zedekiah: The KingWho Turned Out the Lights; and Herod: The King Who Couldn’t Kill Jesus.

Sunday Worship Lenten Candles
We are used to candles during Advent. One more is lit each of the four Sundays in Advent, announcing the advent of our King. This year we will use candles to announce the passion of our Lord. Rather than lighting one more candle each of the six weeks preceding Holy Week we will extinguish one candle each of the six weeks preceding holy week, counting down to the Lord’s suffering on the cross. Before each Sunday service those six weeks there will be a reading by members of the congregation. At the conclusion of the reading a candle will be extinguished.
There will also be readings on Good Friday and Easter.

Special Ash Wednesday Activities
Emmetsburg – Ash Wednesday Day of Prayer coffee and devotion, February 25th, 9:30am
West Bend – Ash Wednesday soup supper fund raiser for VBS, 5:30pm till 7:10 worship.
February Fellowship
Emmetsburg – February 2nd, the fellowship club meets at the Smiths at 6pm, Duane Berninghaus guest speaker.
West Bend – February 20th, the Friday noon pot luck meets, Jay Gibens, Edward R Jones, guest speaker.

Youth
The youth met with the pastor on January 18th for a Bible study. Mary and Chris Newton are working with the youth to schedule a ‘fun day’ some time in the coming weeks.

Peace Guild next meets Thursday, February 26th, Emmetsburg LLSP hosts a soup supper Sunday, February 8th, from 4pm to 6pm.
