Worship

·        Contemporary Service

Our next contemporary service will be January 27th.

·        Power Point

One of the benefits of our power point is the variety offered by the screen. It is a bit strange to say it, but, having used power point consistently for many months, variety now would be a return to the use of the hymnal. So – for the sake of variety in worship we will for a time let the power point rest the third Sunday of the month and use only the hymnal.

·        Lent

Easter is almost as early as it can be this year. In West Bend, we will begin the Lenten Season February 6th with Ash Wednesday Services. In Emmetsburg, the first Lenten mid week service will be an Ash Thursday service on February 7th.

Lutheran Hour Ministries

On October 2, 1930, the first broadcast of The Lutheran Hour® radio program   was aired, with Dr. Walter A. Maier as speaker. The Lutheran Laymen's League, which had formed thirteen years earlier as a financial support organization for the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, had a vision of spreading the Gospel message using the young technology of broadcast radio. For seventy-five years, the call of Christ has been carried around the world by radio waves to share the Good News.

Today, at ministry centers in over 40 countries, LHM is engaging congregations and volunteers and equipping them to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their communities. We use a wide variety of outreach programs that are culturally diverse and designed to fulfill our mission of Bringing Christ to the Nations—and the Nations to the Church.

The Lutheran Hour can be heard on Sundays locally over KICD, Spencer, 1240, at 10:30am and over WHO, Des Moines, 1040, at 7:30am.

In December the youth went caroling in West Bend and decorated the church in Emmetsburg.

Issachar Committees

(32Of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do 1 Chronicles 12:32a)

The Issachar Committee in West Bend is looking into a bus trip this Spring or Summer. The Issachar Committee in Emmetsburg is organizing an after worship hospitality table the second Sunday of each month. Both committees have met often and are endeavoring to find ways that the congregations can enhance ministry. Rev. Bob Riggert, District executive, and Carole White, LCEF vice president, have helped form the Issachar committees and will be with us after a Lenten service. All are invited to join in this meeting.

Installation of Officers

Newly elected church officers will be installed Sunday, January 6th.

January Pot Lucks

The West Bend January Friday pot luck will be the 18th. In Emmetsburg there will be a pot luck after the contemporary service on January 27th. There will be a speaker.
